Landscapes of Hope is an initiative, created and led by Action for Hope, to network civil society organizations across sectors
to bring about effective social change in situations of distress.
Our Mission
We believe that artistic expression offers valuable opportunities for discussion, criticism, knowledge sharing, imagination and healing; all very necessary tools for individuals and communities to face up to the realities they live in. We also believe that artistic expression, and all the activities that precede and succeed it, can only be effective in addressing social change issues if they connect with other activities and endeavors that have similar aims to bring about effective social change.
Our Vision
Even in its most bitter and painful form, art is a landscape of hope. It is the space where we can turn the horrors we have witnessed and experienced as well as the weaknesses we have lived into a genuine questioning of injustice, oppression and violence. Hope is where we find the strength, deep inside ourselves, to challenge our environment and stretch our imagination to see the world we would like to live in: a world where human beings thrive on expressing their opinions, practice their beliefs, flaunt their races and feel that they all contribute to a certain harmony.
Objectives
1- Provide a platform for discussion, learning and development of ideas for joint action among civil society actors to bring about effective social change in situations of distress
2- Advocate for and promote a cross-sector approach in civil society work, especially in situations of distress
3- Highlight the role the arts can play in addressing social change issues
